Network & Security Engineer

Our growing Technology team is looking to bring on an experienced Network & Security Engineer based in our Boston, MA office that will be responsible for the Network availability and security for our digital products. In this role, you will work closely with our Product Engineering and Corporate IT teams, as well as eternal vendors and service providers. Overall, the Network & Security Engineer ensures that these services and systems meet or exceed all necessary performance, security and availability requirements. Our ideal candidate has a love for learning new things and a passion and drive to uncover new approaches in addition to sharing in our entrepreneurial spirit.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement IDS and SEIM measures
  • Primary lead for security incident response plan
  • Implement and maintains network hardware and firmware, including Gig-E WAN links, and Gig-E and 10Gig switch fabric
  • Operate and maintain multi-site VOIP phone system
  • Operate and maintain VPN links for business users and with technology partners
  • Designs, diagrams, communicates and plans for future upgrades to infrastructure
  • Monitors and alerts DNS services and user management of internal and external system issues
  • Manages DNS and LDAP implementations.
  • Assists as needed with internal and external network security compliance activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 5-7 years’ relevant technical experience with a heavy focus on networking and security
  • BA/ BS degree in IT or a related field is preferred
  • Experience with both Linux, including CentOS and Ubuntu, and Windows environments
  • Knowledge of high-availability networking protocols including BGP, HSRP, VRRP and STP, as well as VMWare and AWS
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash, Ruby, Perl and or Python
  • Experience working with agile processes and within flexible, fast-paced, changing environments
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple high-urgency projects
  • Significant experience managing DNS and LDAP
  • Working knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools
  • Experience managing vendor relationships
  • Experience with networking and security in a cloud computer environment
  • Knowledge of Cisco firewalls, Cisco VOIP telephony, and Brocade switches, as well as IDS and SEIM systems
  • Flexibility
  • A high degree of motivation
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision under tight deadlines
  • A solid base of IT knowledge and the ability to learn new skills quickly
  • Previous IT documentation experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to work effectively with a diverse team of people
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
